    Wallet balances in cryptocurrency networks are not stored as a variable like “John Doe’s balance: 100 BTC.” Instead, they are calculated from several UTXOs (unspent transaction outputs), which are units of unspent cryptocurrency resulting from transactions made on the wallet. The sum of an address’s UTXOs represents its available balance.
